Lakota BeliefsThe Native American tribe "Lakota" practices religion through many different ways. They are Nomadic Hunter Gatherers from the plains. They have seven sacred Rites which sends a message to the Wakan Tanka. The first Rite is to pray for health and well-being. The second Rite is a pray for knowledge, strength, and understanding. The third rite is a pray for the lost ones. The fourth Rite is known as the most important one, it is a pray for strength in the nation. The fifth Rite is a pray for relationships. The sixth Rite is a ceremony for the ones who have turned into men. The seventh and final Rite is a pray for general welfare. Each Rite is preformed differently. Some are dances some use smoke to speak to there Wankan Tanka.

Wovoka told people that he was the messiah, and he claimed he had a dream of going to the spirit world and seeing the ghosts of Native Americans taken up by the sky. He taught the sioux the dance it it became famous.
