Everything the Sioux made or used was made out of buffalo. The Hide of the buffalo was used to make clothes, dolls, tipi covers etc. The muscles were used as meat for jerky. The tail was used as decoration, whips, etc. The fat was used for soap and cooking oil. The bones were used for making knives, weapons, tools, and games. The stomach was used for buckets, cups, and dishes. The hooves were used for glue and rattles. The hair was used for headdresses, saddle, pillows, etc. The beard was used for ornaments for weapons. The tongue was the best part of meat. The skull was the altar at religious ceremonies. The brain was hide preparation. The horns were used to make cups, spoons, etc. and the rawhide was used to make containers, shields, buckets, knife cases, and much more.
